Diagnostic Assessments

The purpose of an assessment is to identify strengths and weaknesses, enabling the identification of optimal support, guiding teaching interventions and determining access arrangements for exams.

Prior to assessment:

Information gathering from parents and school, in the form of a questionnaire, inorder to gain a holistic view.

An eye test within past 2 years is a professional requirement.

  • Full Diagnostic Assessment and comprehensive report in accordance to SASC guidelines.

  • A Dyslexia diagnosis can be provided, if appropriate.

  • Comprehensive recommendations for school and home.

  • Access Arrangements for public exams.

  • Onward referrals suggested if appropriate.

  • Detailed, password protected report emailed within 2-3 weeks.

Specialist Teaching

Communication with parents prior to first lesson and after each lesson.

  • Tailor made lessons, using the individual’s strengths and interests to build up weaker areas.

  • Multi-sensory, kinaesthetic and fun.

  • Specific praise and encouragement build up self-esteem and confidence in abilities.

  • Transferrable skills that can be used in the classroom.

  • Curriculum based, to suit the individual need.

  • Study skills: techniques and strategies taught to help revision, note taking, organisation and time management.

Access Arrangements

The goal of Access Arrangements is to eliminate barriers for candidates with specific learning difficulties, whenever feasible, to make exams a level playing field.

  • Provide an ongoing, established relationship tailored to your school’s individual requirements.

  • Consultation with school staff as appropriate to build the history of need

  • Assessment of examination candidates.

  • Completing and signing the relevant forms for the examination boards.
