About Me
One of my passions is discovering, and incorporating, an individual’s interests and strengths into the learning process. This builds up an individual’s self-esteem and confidence in their abilities.
I hold an Assessing Practising Certificate (APC) with PATOSS, plus an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and am ICO registered.
Fiona Donald, Level 7 Dip SpLD, SpLD APC, Level 5 Dip SpLD
My academic background initially lies in Psychology and Mental Health. After having my children, one of whom has dyslexia, I made the decision to redirect my career path. Experiencing the implications of Dyslexia as a parent, I embarked on a journey to deepen my understanding of Dyslexia, learn strategies that can help a dyslexic learner in the clasroom and at home. Dyslexia is fascinating and intriguing specific learning difficulty. People with Dyslexia have many strengths and qualities which should be celebrated.
I successfully completed the Level 5 Diploma and then the Level 7 Diploma, at the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity, with distinction. These qualifications equip me to conduct Diagnostic Assessments for Specific Learning Difficulties, diagnose Dyslexia if appropriate, assess for Access Arrangements and carry out Specialist Teaching.
I am based near Sevenoaks, Kent. Lessons and assessments take place on site or in a school, as pre-arranged.
